Crabbing & Sea Fishing - The Main Show!
-
Again based at Dunfield Farm, Kington - October 2016.
-
Everyone up at 7am, breakfast and away by 8am.
-
Arrived at Aberystwyth at 10:00am. We all walked around town - some of us shopping but also to get worms for our bait.
-
The weather was good - sunny & mild.
-
We started our crab fishing in the harbour at 11:00am. We did not catch as many crabs as before but everyone had a good time. Although one leader was screaming - too crawly! These crawly crabs could even get from one bucket to another - obviously helped by the Seniors!?
-
Left for Borth at 12:15pm. Arrived at 12:30 and had our packed lunch. We even had a hot drink using a portable stove and a couple of conveniently flat stones this time!
-
After lunch, the Scouts set up their own fishing rods (with help from our experienced angling leader) and off they went on to the beach and shallow waves to fish.
-
The Scouts really enjoyed the experience of fishing in the sea. They were in and out of the water, sometimes past their knees!
-
By 6:00pm, having packed the kit away, changed into dry clothes and having had another hot drink, we went back to Kington.
-
We arrived back at 7:30pm and had dinner of fabulous pasta by 8:15.
-
At 9:30pm we had a fire (which only took one match - Well done, Scouts!) in the yard and roasted marshmallows.
-
We all turned in at 11:00pm after a tiring but very enjoyable day.
-
The following morning the Scouts helped make their own drop scones for breakfast.
